FUT Hair Transplant in Liverpool

Maximum volume. High-density coverage. Cost-effective.

The FUT Procedure Explained

Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT), also known as the “Strip Method,” is the most efficient technique for treating advanced hair loss. Unlike FUE, this method allows us to harvest thousands of grafts in a single session by removing a thin strip of tissue from the donor area.

Our surgeons use advanced “Trichophytic Closure” techniques, encouraging hair to grow through the fine linear scar, making it virtually undetectable under standard hair lengths. This is the ideal choice for patients requiring maximum density in one visit.

Recovery Insight

Stitches are typically removed 10-14 days post-op. The fine linear scar is easily hidden by hair worn at a grade 4 length or longer.

THE SURGICAL JOURNEY

High-volume restoration, simplified.

Step 1

Donor Strip Extraction

A thin strip of hair-bearing skin is removed from the back of the head. The area is immediately sutured using an advanced closure technique to minimize scarring.

Step 2

Microscopic Dissection

Our technicians use high-powered stereo-microscopes to dissect the strip into thousands of individual follicular units, ensuring almost 100% graft survival.

Step 3

Precision Implantation

The grafts are implanted into your thinning areas. Because FUT grafts often have more protective tissue, survival and growth rates are exceptional.

Common Questions About FUT

Clear answers regarding recovery, scarring, and results—straight from our Liverpool surgical team.

The linear scar is very fine and located in the donor area. With our Trichophytic closure technique, hair grows through the scar, making it difficult to see unless you shave your head completely (Grade 0).

Neither is "better"—they are for different patients. FUT is superior if you need a huge amount of hair moved in one day (e.g., 3,000+ grafts) and don't plan to shave your head short. FUE is better for smaller sessions and short haircuts.

You may feel some tightness in the donor area for a few days due to the sutures. This is managed easily with standard painkillers. The stitches are removed after 10-14 days.

Generally, no. With FUT, we only shave the specific strip being removed. The hair above falls over the sutures, so the procedure is often completely invisible immediately after surgery.
