Excessive Sweating

What is Excessive Sweating ?

Hyperhydrosis, or excessive sweating, is common, caused by increased function in the glands in the skin.

We all sweat – it’s designed to control our body temperature when we’re exercising, or in hot surroundings, and is also a response to a rise in temperature or anxiety. Our sympathetic nervous system regulates our sweat glands, but in around 1% of the population, the sweat glands are overstimulated, causing sweating at inappropriate times, and in excess of the amount necessary to maintain our normal body temperature. Although underarm and facial sweat may be the most obvious, it can occur in different areas of the body, and affects both sexes equally.

Heavy sweating (also known as hyperhidrosis) is a very real and embarrassing problem, but there are some effective ways to treat it.

The Skin + Hair Clinic provides a variety of treatments to reduce the excessive sweating in our face and body.
